Muggy days in London can often lead to blocked pores and break outs, particularly if you’re also slathering on the high factor SPF every day. Throughly cleaning the skin is essential after a long day in the sun and sometimes your regular cleanser won’t cut it, so a good toner can be effective in removing excess grime and balancing out oil production. Whether you’re in between meetings or heading to the station – spritz this mist for a cool down in this heat wave. Both tea tree and rose water are highly antibacterial so make for a potent skin cleanser, but the addition of the aloe ensures the mixture isn’t too harsh or astringent. We’d recommend keeping the ingredients in your bathroom and making it up fresh as you go (it literally takes 1 minute), but you can make in a batch and keep in the fridge for up to a week. Note – oil and water don’t mix, so the tea tree drops will separate out if you’re making a larger batch, just make sure you give it a good shake before use!
- 2 drops of tea tree oil
- 10ml of rose water
- 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel
Combine the tea tree and aloe in a small bowl and stir well. Add the rose water and stir, then apply using cotton pads. Alternatively if making a larger batch, store in a spray bottle and spray onto face!
You can use fresh aloe vera straight from the plant if you have one at home. Simply squeeze a little of the gel from one of the leaves.
SHELF LIFE: 1 week.
