DIY Chamomile Compress

Read - Clean Beauty Insiders Back

Fresh from the pages of our book is our Hot & Steamy chamomile compress recipe. This is the kind of recipe that you whip up after one of those days. We created it as a skin brightener and glow getter but there’s also something really therapeutic in lying down with the hot compress over your face and allowing both your skin to absorb the nutrients and your mind to relax. Chamomile, queen of soothing ingredients, is an incredible anti-inflammatory so is great at relieving tired and stressed skin, plus has a wonderfully relaxing scent.  Soya milk may sound random in a face compress recipe but it’s actually rich in firming phytoestrogens which are often used in the treatment of age spots and to general brighten skin tone. Ginger helps to bring oxygen-carrying blood to the surface whilst the honey will ensure skin remains soft and supple by locking in moisture. This compress is a rich source of antioxidants; use when in need of a glowing complexion (or just an excuse to put your feet up).

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1⁄2 Cup Chamomile Tea
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1 Teaspoon Grated Ginger
  • 1⁄2 Cup Soya Milk

METHOD:

1 Add the honey and ginger to the hot tea and leave for 10 minutes.

2 Stir in the soya milk.

3 Submerge a cotton annel in the mixture and place over the face.

4 Repeat three times.

5 You can leave the residue on the skin overnight or remove immediately.

This will make one use and should be used immediately. You can also apply a refrigerated toner straight after the compress to close the pores and tighten the skin.
