We Tried: Korean Sheet Masks That Are Also Natural

Read - Clean Beauty Insiders Back

As massive fans of beauty all over the world, it was only natural that we found ourselves caught up in the Korean skincare wave that has been sweeping the Western hemisphere this past year. It’s undeniably difficult to say no to market-breaking technology when paired with complexion-transforming serums, oils and creams, and even more so when they’re clean or natural! Thanks to Buttermilk Skincare, however, getting our paws on clean yet highly effective natural K-skincare brands is now easier than ever. Jenna, the CEO of Buttermilk Skincare, was so kind to send us these two bestselling Whamisa sheet masks to test drive. Read on to find out what we thought!

Whamisa Organic Flowers Hydrogel Sheet Mask – Dominika

It’s been amazing to see the rise of Korean beauty and all the novel beauty accessories and application methods that has come with it. I love the idea of a sheet mask but the brands that sell into the UK that I’ve found tend to be quite synthetic, and with face masks particularly, I’m insistent on only using the best quality natural ingredients.

I tried the Organic Fruits Hydrogel Sheet Mask which contains a ton of fermented fruits such as banana, kiwi, tomato and apple which brightens, rejuvenates and hydrates. It also contains hazel seed oil which tightens pores and balances the skins sebum, which I find pollution throws out of whack all the time. I love the feeling of this mask on my skin and noticed a definite improvement in texture and brightness after 15 minutes of application. The sheet mask itself is also biodegradable, which is really important as actually a lot of sheet masks aren’t degradable or recyclable and contain plastic fibres.

Whamisa Real Kelp Sheet Mask – Elsie

I loved this mask. It’s packed full of really unusual natural ingredients like licorice, wild yam and alginic acid, and you can literally feel the ingredients working their magic as you wear it. It was a little tingly once applied and resulted in a little redness, but as this mask contains acids, this was not out of the ordinary for me. Once that had subsided, my skin felt smooth and refreshed, and looked much brighter (like it was literally glowing!)

A word of warning: you look really weird when wearing the mask. My boyfriend was terrified. It’s a thick kelp with a slimy texture and I honestly looked like some scaly animal while wearing it. Well worth it for the results though!
