DIY Customisable Bath Salt & Soak

When given a choice between hydration and exfoliation, we’d rather not choose. The beauty of high-performance beauty is that, now, you only need a few products to cover all sorts of purposes. As beauty aficionados ourselves, we know the importance of this – and that’s why many of our products in BYBI, our sister brand, is centred around multi-functionality. However, our greed for better performing products doesn’t just stop there. We’re quite into customisable beauty these days – and if the trends are right, so are many of you!

Winter is here, and sadly it’s the season where the skin on our bodies are often neglected. Show your body some love with our customisable bath salt and soak – left open for you to get creative and tailor according to your needs of the moment. The base of this recipe is epsom salt and pink Himalayan salt, both of which are amazing for the skin. Epsom salt is rich in antioxidants and full of magnesium, proven to help relax muscles and boost adrenaline levels. Pink Himalayan salt doesn’t only sound like a dream: it also helps to balance the skin’s pH and gently detoxifies the skin, drawing out heavy metals and toxins as it surrounds your body.

Ingredients:

Combo 1 – for calming:

  • 200g epsom salt
  • 1 tbsp oats, oatmeal or almond meal
  • 2-3 drops oil of your choice
  • 2-3 drops essential oil of your choice
  • a handful dried lavender buds

Combo 2 – to hydrate:

  • 200g epsom salt and pink Himalayan salt
  • 1 tbsp coconut milk powder
  • 2-3 drops oil of your choice
  • 2-3 drops essential oil of your choice
  • a handful of dried flowers

Shelf Life: up to 12 months in an airtight container.

How to:

Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix well, then store in a clean, dry glass container.

Tip:

To ensure a long shelf life, avoid getting water or steam inside the bath salts. The best way to do this is to scoop out as much as you need before running your bath so the rest stays dry!
