There is little else that makes us happy than finding an ingredient that is a superfood for both your insides and your out. We know that all of the wonderfully nourishing properties of our favourite superfoods often translate into our skin and hair; the anti inflammatory properties of coconut oil or antioxidant properties of pomegranate. We’ve been throwing kitchen cupboard essentials into our beauty recipes for ages and always keep an eye out for new ingredients to experiment with.

We managed to get our hands on some of Aduna’s latest wonder product Super-Cacao and were pretty excited. Because we LOVE chocolate. And we know that cacao has some amazing benefits, including being fab for circulation and cardiovascular health. We were super excited about Aduna’s cacao is made from flavanol beans, which have 8x the antioxidant power of regular cocoa powder. This is fab news for beauty fanatics, you hear us rave about antioxidants A LOT at cbco because they basically reverse the damage done by free radicals, which help to reduce the effects of ageing. Anything high in antioxidants is a total winner in our eyes.

The Super-Cacao is also high in vitamin A and magnesium – both great for bright and glowing skin. We couldn’t wait to throw some of this super powder into a facemask recipe! We combined with white clay, perfect to draw out toxins and impurities, and coconut oil, which is super hydrating. All in all skin felt soft and smooth, plus smelled divine.

We obviously couldn’t possibly make a chocolate facemask without baking a cheeky chocolate dessert! Our insides deserve all the yummy goodness of Super-Cacao too. We got inspiration from a Livia’s Kitchen Recipe for a gluten, dairy and refined sugar free cake, but made cupcakes and threw on a couple of raspberries for good measure. They were delish.
