Love Your Hands: 5 Products To Get Now

You know the drill: it’s the coldest season of the year, freezing winds blow and dry skin comes. A classic story that we’ve told many times over, and a problem we’ve shown you how to overcome. However, it’s not often that we turn our focus to our hands – a surprising fact considering how important they are to us (I’m already thinking of all those last minute makeup touchups I’ll need in upcoming #GoodbyeDryJanuary parties…)

Since the season of love is finally upon us, let’s be a little more generous with showing our hands some love. Read on to find out the top 5 handcare products to invest in today.

For the Food Lover

Anyone who knows me would know I’m an incredibly passionate foodie (that occasionally toes the ‘obsessive’ line). Passionate as in I once took the DLR from my place all the way to Greenwich just to get a churro. A churro. (FYI, it was damn well worth the trip).

You’d expect someone like that to have bits of food all over their keyboard – but no! Don’t be deceived – as much as I love a chai tea latte, the smell of chai on my desk comes comes from my Daughter of the Soil Marula Hydrating Hand Lotion (£16, daughterofthesoil.co.uk). It’s super hydrating and is the reason why my nail technician has stopped lecturing me about my awful hangnails. Praise be!

For the Trend Follower

Quick lowdown in case you didn’t know, but probiotic skincare is literally all the rage right now. Being the beauty trend-lovers that we are, we couldn’t resist jumping on board, testing every single probiotic skincare brand left, right and centre until our face couldn’t take it any more. Naturally, we moved onto our body – and discovered that this Aromatic Repair & Brighten Hand Cream by Aurelia (£30, aureliaskincare.com) is an absolute dream.

It sinks in quickly, hydrates deeply and keeps skin quenched for the better part of the day. Not to mention the the ultra glam gold packaging: awesome Christmas present for mum right there.

For the Cool Vegan

Babe, you should have seen this coming from a mile away. When BYBI isn’t busy bearing the (millennial pink) flag for 100% natural, vegan and cruelty-free skincare, they’re saving hands, lips and elbows everywhere with Babe Balm (£18, bybi.com). It’s not just recommended by editors, however: a recent review on the site claims that it even renewed cracked, broken skin on hands with psoriatic arthritis into baby smooth skin… need we say more?

For the Instagrammer

Of course, for any expert Instagrammer, aesthetics is priority – and all of Nouri’s products fall under this category. You’ll be happy to know that the contents of their sleek, minimalist packaging are pretty darn good too: their Vital Hand Cream (£35, contentbeauty.com) is infused with plant-derived squalane and almond oil, which deliver lasting hydrating with little to no greasiness left behind. We can definitely get behind that.

For the Skincare Junkie

A post shared by Pai Skincare (@paiskincare) on

As a brand well-loved by the natural and mainstream beauty community alike, it’s no surprise that we had to include Pai in this hitlist. These guys knew what they were doing when they threw together this hero hand cream, throwing in a good mix of oils rich in omega 3, 6 and 7. The formula of their Instant Hand Therapy Cream (£16, paiskincare.com) means it’s a fab choice for those with both sensitive skin and very dry, chapped hands. Win!
